As a School Counselors at Vista del Mar Middle School, our duties include the following: Teaching school counseling curriculum regarding emotion recognition and regulation, suicide prevention, and social/friendship skills. Providing intervention and support to students both individually and in small groups when situations arise that impede student success. Recognize possible warning signs of mental health needs or familial trauma, and provide outside resources who are trained to support students and families in those areas.
As an Academic Advisor at Vista del Mar Middle School, my duties vary and may include the following: provide information regarding academic planning for high school, schedule and orient new students, register students for classes for the following school year, Parent/Student/Teacher conferences, coordinate and present orientations for students at elementary schools, plan and participate in parent orientations, assist with revision of curriculum guides, ensure grade reporting is completed and progress reports and report cards are prepared, assist in the development of the master schedule and any other academic concerns.
